Radiographs

Untitled design (5).jpg

Dental radiographs, also known as x-rays, are vital to your dental care. They provide your dentist, Dr. Amin, a more complete view of your mouth by alerting changes in tissues, bone, cavities, gum disease, injury, and more. The use of radiographs allows for early detection of disease and developmental issues before they cause permanent damage. At RVA Periodontics and Dental Implant Center, we use different methods to see what is happening inside your mouth.

Digital X-Rays

Instead of traditional films, we use digital x-rays, which means less exposure to radiation and a more efficient and in-depth look at the state of your mouth. Digital X-rays reduce patient radiation exposure by up to 90 percent compared to the already low exposure of traditional dental X-rays. Dr. Amin can instantly view and enlarge the images, allowing her to detect problems easier.

CBCT

The innovative Sirona dental cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a special type of x-ray equipment used when regular dental or facial x-rays are not sufficient. We use this technology to produce three dimensional (3-D) images of your teeth, soft tissues, nerve pathways, and bone in a single scan. CBCT scans provide multiple views and slices to ensure you get the perfect angle, so we can easily assess issues related to bone atrophy, periapical lesions, or impacted teeth - as well as a wide variety of other issues. Patient health and safety is our number one priority and utilizing this This technology reduces the level of radiation exposure. We are proud to utilize the CBCT technology in our practice.
